Centre Européen de Musique
Support for the launch of the European Music Center (EMC) which is a musical, educational, scientific, cultural and tourist project without equivalent in Europe. The EMC is located in the commune of Bougival, about twenty kilometers from Paris, an integral part of the hill of the Impressionists, a listed site, in the heart of a landscaped park linking the villa of Pauline Viardot, the dacha of Ivan Tourgueniev, and the house of Georges Bizet, three of the most creative minds of the 19th century in Europe. The new CEM building will be built in the heart of this vast estate, designed as a place for training, transmission and transdisciplinary exchanges around music. Created and supported by the baritone Jorge Chaminé, the CEM is backed by the President of the Republic, with the support of the State and local authorities. The European institutions are already strongly committed through the voice of Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Sabine Verheyen, President of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, and Themis Christophidou, Director General of the European Commission’s DG for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, to the implementation of the European project: European Music Centre, a meeting place for the arts, humanities, sciences and generations. The EMC is also part of the Creative Europe and Music Moves Europe programs.
