Les Arcs Film Festival

Renewed backing for the Les Arcs European Film Festival which this year celebrates its tenth edition and changes its name to become “Les Arcs Film Festival”. Created in 2009, the festival aims to promote, develop and disseminate European cinematographic creation through a programme of more than 110 films representing the richness and diversity of independent European cinema and the holding of professional meetings. Its steady attendance levels amount to more than 20,000 admissions, including 6,000 schoolchildren. In November 2016, the association launched a video-on-demand platform, “les Arcs VOD”, which is currently benefiting 6 schools in the Savoy region as well as a handful of spectators at the festival in the Bourg Saint Maurice region. The service includes about fifty European films and is documented for students and teachers, to give them avenues of work and allow them to perceive cinema through European themes. Cultural action for young people is divided into two main parts: the Young Audience section of the programme and a series of lectures (masterclass and cinema lessons), which aim to introduce European themes through cinema, and practical games, which involve young European citizens more directly, like the “Jeunes Ambassadeurs du Cinéma Européen” programme, the EFA Young Audience Award and the “Jury Jeune”. The festival takes place from 15 to 22 December 2018 in Bourg Saint Maurice – Les Arcs.
