Europe alive in schools – Schools alive with Europe

Conducted in October, this project consisted of a European day of conferences, debates and workshops to introduce the culture of European citizenship to school curricula and initial and continual training of teachers. Placed at the heart of political debates, it remains confined to the margins in schools. The fact that this complex issue, with its multiple challenges, is left to one side calls into question the ability of citizens to appropriate democratic instruments. What place should European citizenship occupy at school? This question is addressed to all the Member States of the Union, and the French section of the European Association of Teachers (AEDE) prompts reflection on it with its national and European partners through a series of major themes: “Citizenship and European Literacy”, “European History and Histories of Europe”, “Values, Arts and Cultures”, “Science and Technology” and “Practices, Disciplines and Programmes”.
