What if we were defence counsels at the European Court of Human Rights?

Appointed “defence counsels” at the European Court of Human Rights, 150 high school pupils discover how the European Council and its instruments of protection work by means of simulated representation before the European Court of Human Rights. The pupils are given prior training by a team from the School of Human Rights comprising legal experts specialising in international law and trained in teaching techniques, and learn the possibilities and limitations of the European Court of Human Rights in the area of combating discrimination. They learn how to defend a viewpoint different to their own and develop an ability to express themselves eloquently so that they can become ambassadors of the European Court of Human Rights at the Festiv’ event organised by the Region for 5,000 young people.
