Europa-Lingua
Europa-Lingua has organised two meetings based around translation of contemporary theatre linking France and Germany, as part of a broader project centred on “the language of Europe is translation” (Umberto Eco) and intended to increase linguistic and artistic interaction, and translation of contemporary critical and creative European texts. One meeting on the work of German playwright Rebekka Kricheldorf took place at the Catholic University of Paris, and the other at the French Institute at Villa Europa in Saarbrücken, on the work of French playwright Fabrice Melquiot, at the 10th Primeurs Festival (Franco-German festival of playwriting). Authors, their publishers, translators, interpreters, directors and broadcasters interacted with invited French and German pupils at the end of each day in a workshop on translating dramatic works, the results of which are to be published in the form of an anthology.
